Day 2 – 30 Day Human Food Challenge

Today I am trying out Butternut Squash in my dog’s food.  They were super interested in what I was cooking too!  I am not sure how they knew this was for them, but they did!!

Preparing butternut squash is super easy.  You can boil it in water or bake it in the oven.  It has been so cold here, that I chose to bake mine to help heat the house up a little bit.

Start with a butternut squash.

Remove the label and peel the squash.

Cut the squash open and remove the membrane and seeds.

Slice and cube the squash.

Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Remove from oven when it is fork tender.  Let cool.  Add a few cubes to your dog’s kibble.

Butternut Squash Benefits:

Butternut squash is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber, and potassium. These vitamins and minerals support the health of your dog’s vision, immune system, colon, muscles, and more.

Butternut squash also helps your dog’s digestion. If your dog has diarrhea, for example, a small spoonful of cooked squash mixed into their regular food can help.

Remember, you should always do your research before feeding your dog any human foods.  And not every dog is going to like everything you feed them – they all have different tastes when it comes to food.

I would love to hear what different foods you have tried to feed your dog.  Please share your stories and experiences with me!!
