Today I added a small bunch of spinach to the dogs food. I have to admit, they didn’t seem as excited about the spinach as they were about the ham or bone broth, but they did eat it all up. I have experimented with it before and found that if I cut it up or run it through the food processor, they are more willing to eat it. If I just throw full sized spinach leaves in their bowls, they pick them out and put them on the floor beside their bowl and won’t eat it.
Today, I took the whole spinach leaves and diced them. I hate to admit it, but I didn’t want to mess with the food processor clean-up and it was such a small amount, I figured it was just as easy to cut it up myself.
For the big guys, the 55 to 80 pound guys, I added about 1/4 cup of spinach and for the little guy, 10 pounds, I added about 1 tablespoon.
Benefits of spinach: Spinach has antioxidants and iron. It also has Vitamin K, which is good for your dog’s bone health and growth. As always, be sure to do your research before feeding your do anything.
I am curious to know if anyone else is giving these new ingredients a try with their dogs. Do they like what you are adding? Are you finding that it is easier than you expected? I know I am!
