Happy St. Patricks Day!

By the last name McCarthy, you probably guessed that we have some Irish blood running through our veins – LOL.  So to honor and celebrate our Irish background, I thought it would be fun to test out a new dog treat!

I found a healthy and easy recipe by Beagles and Bargains. You can find the recipe here.  This is a recipe that you could even drink if you want to.  It’s not bad.  I tried it.  I have a juicer, so I ran all the ingredients through my juicer first, then put the pulp and juice in my blender so I didn’t waste any of the healthy and nutritious good stuff.

It is so simple, I ran 2 cups of spinach, 2 cups of Pears, 1 cup of celery and 1 tsp of fresh ginger through my juicer.  Then I added all the juices, the pulp, and 1 cup of water to the blender and mixed it thoroughly.

I poured all the liquid into silicone molds and put them in the freezer for a few hours.  This morning I put one treat in the dogs kibble and they ate it right up!  It was super simple to throw together.  This would be a great treat in the summer-time to help cool down too!

Let me know if you give it a try and how your dogs like it or not.
